Google Adsense
https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_US/
This is Google's publisher program. It allows you to build zones for
advertising on your websites. Adsense can be really great or really
horrible depending on your
situation. My experience has been less than fantastic.
Paychecks
aren't delivered until you reach $100 in your account, and small sites
like the one you are viewing right now won't see a payday for over a
year. They are also heavy handed and have very strict rules regarding
what you can do with your websites.
Google Adwords

This is Google's advertising program. This program allows you to
advertise your products, websites, etc through their Adsense program.
Yahoo
SearchMarketing (Formerly Overture)

Yahoo's answer to Adsense.
Adbrite
http://www.adbrite.com/
I like Adbrite as an alternative to Google and use it with half of my
websites. They seem fairly hands off for publishers and I've never had
a problem getting quality ads. It's a great service for small sites and
beginners because it is fairly easy to set up. I like that they allow
you to easily reject ads that you don't want on your website.
Bidvertiser

Haven't used this one personally, but others feel that it works well.
Seems to be very popular. I'll try to build a website to check it out
and let you know.
Project Wonderful

Just found this one. Still in beta at the time of this posting, and
only taking websites by invite. Looks promising though.
Snap

The Snap Shots Network lets you advertise
contextually, right in the content your audience is focused on.
